Board of Directors

  • History and purposes of the AELLVA

By the end of 1990 a group of writers gathered at the historic Valencian institution Lo Rat Penat to discuss an idea of Miquel Castellano and Vicent Ramon Calatayud: they wanted to establish an association of those writers in Valencian language, thus encouraging publication of new works and bringing young authors up. One year later, December 5th 91,  the new-born association was given green-light by the competent authorities and the first General Assembly elected the Board of Directors.

Nowadays the Valencian Language Writers' Association (AELLVA) has published more than 50 titles, on its own or in collaboration with several publishing houses and  receives support from more than sixty writers with published work. It also has a number of yearly cultural events.

  • Head office.

Seu de l'AellvaSince 1995 the AELLVA has its head office at Carrer de Dalt (o carrer Alt) 64, in the City of Valencia. However, most of our events take place at different public locations in the City and in other Valencian towns.

  • Members

The original group of writers was related to Lo Rat Penat, but now members have  different backgrounds and come from everywhere in the old Kingdom of Valencia (Elig, Alcoy, Paterna, Alacant, Vallada, Burriana, Castello, Font de la Figuera, Sagunt, Almenara, Algemesi, Alaquas, Quart de Poblet, Xabia etc.) and even from abroad (Guadalajara and Canary Islands). Their link is their love and dedication to Valencian language.

  • Scope

The AELLVA has attended the Ist and IInd Conferences about Culture in the Valencian Community, organised by the Consell Valencià de Cultura (Valencian Council of Culture). The Association was received at the European Parliament after having addressed to the Committee on Culture, Youth, Education, the Media and Sport the report  Testimoni cronologic d’autors en llengua valenciana (Chronological evidence of writers in Valencian language),   quoting sources and dates from XIIIth Century until present day.
